“CBE” Raises Net Foreign Assets of USD 350 Million

The Central Bank of Egypt's net foreign assets rose by about $350 million in January. According to central bank data, the central bank's net foreign assets recorded $ 12 billion, compared to $ 11.65 billion in December.

Net assets represent the difference between foreign currency liabilities in favor of non-residents and foreign currency assets employed outside the country. Net domestic assets fell to 1.59 trillion pounds in January from about 1.65 trillion pounds in December. Credit facilities directed by the central bank to the government rose marginally to 821 billion pounds from 806 billion pounds in December.
